At SIGNLite, our responsibility as a corporate citizen includes our commitment to preserving and positively impacting the environment with a comprehensive recycling program and ongoing efforts to increase our energy efficiency.

Here are just some examples of our efforts:
  • Metals such as steel and aluminum are collected onsite and delivered by a waste management company to recycling processing plants. Approximately 11 tons are recycled annually.
  • The same process is used for various plastics such as acrylics and polycarbonates used on a daily basis in our sign development. We recycle about 5 tons of plastics each year.
  • All expired fluorescent lamps from various projects are collected and disposed of at a Connecticut recycling center. This amounts to about 1500 pounds annually.
  • We also recycle an average of 2 tons of cardboard each year.
  • Paint cans, byproducts from painting and painting supplies including spray booth maintenance supplies are professionally collected for safe disposal.
  • Through our participation in the United Illuminating (UI) Small Business Energy Program, we saved 76,121 pounds of coal from being burned by retrofitting lighting throughout our building, replacing our air conditioners with energy efficient units and replacing our air compressor with an energy efficient model. We received an award for Business Leadership and Environmental Stewardship for the effectiveness of this program.

We take pride in being environmentally conscious and our efforts will continue to expand as we identify additional ways to do our part as responsible corporate citizens.
